Blackman Wrestling Dominates at Franklin Duals

Blackman Blaze – 2024 Battle for the Ship Champions, Franklin, TN

Last Saturday, the Blackman High School Wrestling team showcased their exceptional talent and determination by winning the Franklin Duals – Battle for the Ship. Competing against 11 other teams at Franklin High School, the Blaze emerged victorious in all five of their dual meets, securing the tournament championship with outstanding performances across the board.

In their first match, Blackman faced off against Independence High School and secured a decisive 53-27 victory. The team continued their winning streak with an impressive 81-0 shutout against Shelbyville, followed by a commanding 72-9 win over Nolensville JV.

In the Gold Bracket, the competition intensified and Blackman maintained their momentum, triumphing over Station Camp with a 57-21 score. In the final and most thrilling match of the tournament, the Blaze narrowly defeated Nolensville with a close 37-33 victory, solidifying their place as champions of the Franklin Duals.

Coach Heathcott expressed immense pride in the team’s performance, highlighting their dedication and hard work leading up to the tournament. “The effort and determination displayed by our wrestlers this weekend was phenomenal,” said Coach H. “Each athlete gave their best, and it truly showed in our results. We’re excited to carry this momentum forward into the rest of the season. Our celebration in the hallway afterwards will be something they all remember for the rest of their lives. And definitely the signature moment that we will use going forward. A bunch of heart shown Saturday.”
