Blackman Celebrates Senior Night in Electric Fashion, Rolls Past Stewarts Creek

Blackman Wrestling turned Senior Night into a show on Tuesday as the Blaze honored nine seniors and delivered a strong performance in front of a loud, energized home crowd against Stewarts Creek.

Before the dual began, the seniors were recognized at center mat and presented with gifts in front of family, friends, and fans. The celebration set the tone for the night — and the packed gym responded. Blackman unveiled a brand-new production experience that included athlete walk-out songs, a run through the Blackman inflatable tunnel, and red “flame-like” smoke effects from the new geyser machines. The lights dropped, the music hit, and each wrestler took the mat in big-time fashion. The atmosphere was electric.

Boys Dual — Blaze Handle Business

The boys followed and wasted no time setting the tone. Blackman opened the dual with Germaia Ewida earning a dominant 14–5 major decision at 106.

At 113, Mason Davison battled late to secure a critical escape, closing the gap and preventing a major decision — a smart effort that saved a team point in the dual.

Stewarts Creek forfeited to Blackman standouts Andrew Workman and Landon McLean, while Thomas “Connor” Rose delivered a strong performance at 126, picking up a fall in 1:45. Carter Hughes, Douglas Barksdale, Eli Goodin, and Trevor Steffy all followed with pins of their own as the Blaze continued to roll.

Abraham Nadeau turned in a gritty effort at 157, securing an 8–0 major decision with relentless pressure throughout the match. Heavyweight senior Whit Whitaker also had his moment, running out of the tunnel to a roaring ovation before receiving a forfeit win — a special Senior Night memory in front of the home crowd.

Coach’s Thoughts

Head Coach Heathcott praised both the atmosphere and his team’s effort:

“It was an electric environment tonight. The Blackman Faithful came out strong tonight and our boys put on a show. Proud of our guys for taking care of business tonight in a big District/Region matchup. Not done yet. Back to work.”

“And I want to give a special shoutout to our six seniors. This is a special group. They’ve made a huge impact on our program, one that will carry on long after they’re done lacing them up. I look forward to seeing everything this group will accomplish.
