
The Blackman Blaze wrestling team traveled to Memphis to participate in the highly competitive Black Horse Invitational wrestling tournament. The event drew numerous skilled teams from five different states, providing a challenging yet rewarding experience for the Blaze wrestlers.
In individual matches, several Blackman wrestlers demonstrated outstanding performances. Germaia Ewida (106 lbs) showcased his strength and technique by winning against Jin Saito (Summit), who is ranked 6th in Tennessee. Andrew Workman (120 lbs) dominated the competition, including a decisive victory in the finals over Nolan Barton (Nolensville). Meanwhile, Blaise Meeks (190 lbs) fought valiantly and secured a third-place finish, despite a tough match against Chase Mayes (Nolensville), the top-ranked wrestler in Tennessee.

- 1st Place: Father Ryan High School, TN
- 2nd Place: Collierville High School, TN
- 3rd Place: Nolensville High School, TN
- 11th Place: Blackman High School, TN
Individual Results:
- 106 lbs – Germaia Ewida (9-1) placed 2nd.

- 138 lbs – Landon McLean (5-5) placed 8th.
- Lost to Aiden Krass (East Ascension), unranked in TN
- 190 lbs – Blaise Meeks (9-2) placed 3rd.
- Lost to Chase Mayes (Nolensville), ranked 1st in TN

Coach Heathcott expressed immense pride in the team’s overall performance, stating, “Our wrestlers showed tremendous heart and skill throughout the tournament. Competing against some of the best teams in the region, they rose to the challenge and represented Blackman High School with distinction.”
The Blackman Blaze wrestling team’s success at the Black Horse Invitational is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and team spirit. As they continue their season, they will undoubtedly build on this momentum and strive for even greater achievements.
