
Cleveland, TN – The Blackman wrestling team wrapped up their strong showing at the Bradley Invitational, hosted by Bradley Central High School, with an eventful Day 2. The tournament, known for its tough competition, saw our wrestlers pushing through to secure notable results.
Day 1 Recap:
Our wrestlers started the tournament with a solid performance, setting the stage for an exciting second day. Germaia Ewida at 106 lbs and Andrew Workman at 120 lbs were among the standout performers, both advancing through their brackets with decisive wins. Ewida secured a major decision and a tech fall, while Workman impressed with two tech falls, showcasing his prowess on the mat.

Day 2 Highlights:
- Germaia Ewida (106 lbs) continued his strong performance into Day 2. After facing a tough loss in the semifinals, Ewida battled back in the consolation semifinals, winning in an ultimate tie breaker against Jericho Latoy from Toombs County. His fight didn’t end there; in the match for 3rd place, Ewida faced Jakoby Odineal from Warren Co., who secured the win by fall. Despite not placing on the top of the podium, Ewida’s resilience earned him 4th place and 17.5 team points.
- Andrew Workman (120 lbs) had an exceptional day, moving through to the finals with a major decision victory in the semifinals against Domynic Thompson from Jackson County. The championship match was a hard-fought battle against Huntsville’s Kiyan Simon, who clinched the win and was awarded the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. Workman’s performance was commendable, securing 2nd place and 24 team points, highlighting his skill and determination.
- Landon McLean (144 lbs) had a remarkable run in the consolation rounds. After a loss in the first round, McLean clawed his way back with four consecutive wins, including a decision over Paul Schultze from Franklin High School. His day ended with a fall in the blood round against Ace Robinson from Rhea Co., but not before amassing 12 team points.
- Other wrestlers like Gavin Wright (113 lbs), Peyton Pickens (138 lbs), Eli Goodin (150 lbs), Afraim Ewida (165 lbs), Ethan Clark (175 lbs), Blaise Meeks (190 lbs), Brayden Edmonson (285 lbs), and Kyngston Russell (285 lbs) also competed, with varying outcomes, contributing to the team’s overall effort in the tournament.

Team Performance:
The Blackman team showed grit and determination throughout both days of the Bradley Invitational. Despite some setbacks, our wrestlers demonstrated their capability and growth, especially in how they handled adversity on Day 2. The points scored by each wrestler, whether through wins or placements, added up to a commendable team performance.
