Blackman Girls Post Historic Win at Regions

The Blackman Women’s wrestling program put together an historic performance last weekend by winning the TSSAA Girls Region 3 Traditional Championship which was held at Spring Hill High School. It is the first time in the history of the girls program to win a region title.

Coach Andi Jones in her 5th year as Blackman Head Coach guided her team to the first place finish with 137 points besting last year’s region champ Riverdale who scored 131.

Rounding out the top 5 in the region were Blackman (137), Riverdale (131), John Overton (122), McGavock (90), and Siegel (84).

Blackman’s win saw a record high 4 girls qualify for the TSSAA State Tournament which will be held this weekend at the Williamson County Ag Expo Center in Franklin, TN. Previously the largest number of qualifiers from the Lady Blaze was two in both 2022 and 2023.

As recognition of her efforts and hard work, Coach Jones was awarded the Region 3 Coach of the Year Award as voted on by region coaches. Congrats to Coach Andi!

Winning is slowly becoming a tradition for the Lady Blaze! Blackman girls also won the Region 3 Runner-Up trophy at the Region Duals only a couple of weeks ago in another historic first.

Coach Jones credits the hard work of the girls and her Assistant Coach Ashley Boss for putting in the work it takes to be successful. Everyone in wrestling knows that girls wrestling is growing by leaps and bounds. Winning at this level takes dedication, patience, and strong work ethic.

Not doing much this weekend? Get out to the Ag Expo Center in Franklin and come and support these Lady Blaze!! Wrestling starts on Friday and continues through Saturday evening.

Congrats again to the following lady Blaze Qualifiers!!!
