Blackman Sends County-High Nine to State

Blackman wrestlers battled in what was certainly the states toughest sectional tournament last weekend and will be sending nine athletes to the TSSAA State Tournament this coming weekend in Franklin.

The Blaze had one section champion in 182 pound senior, Josh Chew. Chew defeated McMinn County’s Austin Cooley in the final match in a 7-2 decision.

Cleveland and Bradley dominated the day with eleven section winners between the two schools. Region 4 had only three section champs: Chew (182 – Blackman), Barlow (152 – Coffee Co), and Owen (220 – Rockvale). Just a little lop-sided.

TSSAA State Tournament starts this Thursday in Franklin. Come out and support the Blaze!
