With a second place finish in Region 5, Blackman qualified for the TSSAA State Duals for the third consecutive year in a row!   Coach Bray and the team headed to the Ag Center in Franklin with lofty goals in mind.   Similar to years past, Blackman would not get an easy first round match.   In the first dual, Heritage from Blount County turned on the jets and quickly erased the 17-6 lead that the Blaze had built and won the dual 45-35.   After licking their wounds and getting some rest, Blackman reeled off three consecutive wins on Saturday!   Blackman defeated Knoxville Halls (41-27), Maryville (47-23) and last year’s third place team, Ravenwood (34-31).   Those victories put the Blaze in position to get to the consolation finals.  Only one more team to beat….Heritage…..again!   This time, the guys did not go down so easy but the overall result was the same.   The Blaze fell in battle (39-30).   This trip to the state duals was the most successful trip ever for Blackman!   Winning three matches at state duals is no easy task!   Congrats to the team and Coach Bray for achieving yet another milestone!
