Coach Bray worked the team hard before the region duals. He knew that this team had more in the tank than they were letting on as of late. The hard work paid off as the Blaze traveled to Cookeville and qualified TEN wrestlers to the state tournament, more than any other county team. Blackman’s Tyler Garrison (152), Tyler Sells (160), and Austin Wells (285) were crowned Region Champions. Our other state qualifiers were Dylan Coggins – 4th (106), Jacob Kimbrough – 4th (113), Ayinde Bakari – 3rd (132), Josh Feuerbacher – 2nd (138), John Olivieri – 2nd (145), Conner Helton – 3rd (170), and Jevon Brown – 3rd (182).
The 138 pound finals match featuring Josh Feuerbacher was voted Best Match in the lightweight division. Josh lost a controversial match with Austin Richard from Central. The 160 pound finals in which Tyler Sells beat Blake Solomon won Best Match in the heavyweight division. Congrats to all of our region placers!! Let’s get it done at state!!
