Blackman gets Roughed Up at the Cleveland Duals

This past weekend, Blackman travelled to Cleveland, TN to participate in the ever tough Cleveland Duals.  If you were looking for quality dual matches, you weren’t disappointed as some of the best teams from Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama were on hand to test their might and see who was number one!   The Blaze were missing several key wrestlers and every single dual, Blackman gave up forfeits at 106, 113, 120, and 170.   Giving up 24 points out of the gate is a ton for any team so Blackman had to be content with getting some great matches against some very experienced teams! In the end, those kinds of defeats will make us stronger!

RECENT MATCH RESULTS

  • Blackman 63 – Lawrence County 10
  • Blackman 82 – Franklin Co 0
  • Blackman 42 – Woodstock(GA) 21
  • Blackman 15 – Cleveland 58
  • Blackman 15 – Pope(GA) 55
  • Blackman 17 – Thompson(AL) 55

Blackman battled tough in the losses at Cleveland and despite losing there were many bright spots and shining stars.   Junior Tyler Garrison went 4-0 on the day winning his matches in convincing fashion.   Freshman sensation Matthew Sells wrestled his first real competition and although he went 1-3 wrestling seniors all day, he earned the respect of his new team-mates by not getting pinned, keeping it close and defeating a very good Cleveland 145 pounder.   Jevon Brown looked like he is getting closer to wrestling shape and definitely will continue to return to form.   Nick Turner wrestled very tough and got a couple of great wins!   We are so proud of Nick!!   Josh Feuerbacher had a bloody good day as well!   There are just too many individual efforts congratulate them all!   Sorry guys!!
